Meet the founder
An engineer who spent nearly two decades keeping complex systems safe. Then it got personal.
By trade, I'm a controls engineer with nearly two decades of experience across industrial controls, automation, system integrations, and IT — the systems that quietly keep complicated operations running safely, monitored from anywhere, around the clock.
For most of my career, that expertise lived on the factory floor. HearthSync began somewhere much closer to home. It began with my grandfather.
The heart behind the connection.
As Director of Client Success & Family Services, Laura is often the first friendly voice families meet and the trusted guide who helps them feel confident every step of the way.
Before joining HearthSync, Laura built her career as a Data Analyst and Mortgage Fraud Investigator, where she developed a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for helping people navigate complex situations. Her ability to identify patterns, ask the right questions, and understand each family's unique needs makes her an invaluable advocate for our clients.
Today, Laura combines her analytical background with genuine compassion to ensure every family receives personalized support, clear communication, and an exceptional experience. Whether she's helping a new client get started or supporting families as their needs evolve, Laura is dedicated to making independent living safer, simpler, and more connected for everyone involved.

OUR STORY
Why HearthSync exists
For most of my life, my grandfather was the most independent, stubborn man I knew — and proud of it. So when dementia slowly began to set in, the hardest part wasn't only watching him change. It was watching him insist, over and over, that he was fine.
We lived hours away. That distance turned into a constant, low hum of worry. Did he remember his medication today? Did he leave the stove on again? Every unanswered phone call sent our minds straight to the worst place. We drove out whenever we could, but we couldn't be there every day, and he made it very clear he had no interest in leaving the home he loved.
So we started having the conversation every family dreads: maybe it was time for assisted living. He wouldn't hear of it. 0 chance.
Then one day he fell — and couldn't get up to reach a phone and call for help.
He was on the floor for more than a day before we realized we simply couldn't get a hold of him. By the time we found him and got him to the hospital, he had a broken leg — and we had a decision we could no longer avoid.
Sitting in that hospital room, we finally accepted he needed more care than we could give from hours away. And that's when the second shock hit: there was almost none to be had. The good facilities had waiting lists months long. The cost of care was staggering. And while we waited, the weight of managing everything landed squarely on us — full-time jobs, long drives, and the constant fear of the next phone call.
Through all of it, one thing kept nagging at me. I'd spent twenty years building systems that monitor complex machinery from anywhere in the world — sensors and quiet alerts that tell an operator the instant something's wrong. Yet when it came to the person I loved most, there was no simple way to know something as basic as: is he okay today?
That gap is the reason HearthSync Smart Living was created.
